States Win for Jenna Jacobson (WI SD 17)

Representative Jenna Jacobson’s commitment to public service was shaped by her mother, a single parent and pastor who balanced raising two children while relying on food stamps and pursuing her education. Jenna never planned to run for office, but after the 2016 election she felt called to work for change in her community. She ran for and won a seat on her local village board, where she cofounded an affordable housing coalition to ensure seniors and families weren’t priced out of their community.

In 2022, Jenna ran for the State Assembly and won. In the Assembly, she served as the ranking member for the Committees on Agriculture and Sporting Heritage and served on the Financial Institutions and Ways and Means Committees.

Now, Jenna is running for the Wisconsin State Senate because she knows that southwestern Wisconsin deserves a champion who will listen to and fight for the community.

WHY THIS RACE

Democrats are just two seats away from flipping the State Senate for the first time in nearly two decades (not counting the short-lived Senate flip after the 2012 recall elections). Senate District 17 is one of the most important red-to-blue flip opportunities now that fairer maps have been enacted. In recent elections, Senate District 17 has supported Democratic candidates in statewide and national races, reflecting the shifting dynamics of rural and small-town Wisconsin. Breaking the Republican’s grip on the Wisconsin Senate and enacting true progress for the Badger State is not possible without electing Jenna and flipping this seat.

WHY WISCONSIN

All eyes are on Wisconsin heading into the 2026 midterms. After years of extreme Republican gerrymandering that locked in GOP control of the legislature, fairer maps went into effect in 2024. Democrats are now just two seats away from flipping the State Senate and five seats away from flipping the Assembly, putting Democratic legislative majorities within reach for the first time in over a decade. Winning in Wisconsin will not only determine the balance of power in Madison, but also shape the national political landscape in 2026.
