Senator Lisa Grafstein has represented North Carolina’s 13th Senate District since 2023. In her first term, she has championed legislation to raise the minimum wage, strengthen anti-discrimination protections, and expand access to the ballot box.
Lisa brings nearly three decades of experience as a civil rights attorney to her legislative work. Since 1995 she has fought for workers facing discrimination, people with disabilities seeking to live and work without barriers, and communities whose rights have too often been denied.
WHY THIS RACE
Lisa’s seat is critical to protecting Democrats’ fragile numbers in the Senate as Democrats continue to fight to break the Republican supermajority. A leading voice on reproductive freedom, voting rights, and disability justice, Lisa is one of Republicans’ top targets heading into the 2026 midterms.
WHY NORTH CAROLINA
North Carolina will be a defining battleground in the 2026 midterms, with control of the legislature and an open U.S. Senate seat on the line. In 2024, Democrats ended the Republican supermajority in the House, giving Democratic Governor Josh Stein the ability to veto Republican attacks on reproductive rights, public schools, and voting access. Flipping vulnerable districts and defending key incumbents is the only way to keep Democrats strong enough to stop the GOP’s extreme agenda.
