Dr. Tammy Savoie was born in New Orleans and raised in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana with her four siblings. Tammy’s mother Diana was a homemaker and her father Thomas served in the Merchant Marines. After graduating from St. Mary’s Dominican High School in New Orleans, Tammy enlisted in the Air National Guard where she served for 15 years as a Law Enforcement and Security Forces Specialist achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant. While in the National Guard, she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from The University of New Orleans followed by her doctoral (Ph.D.) in clinical psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Today, Tammy resides in Lakeshore, Louisiana and has plentiful family in New Orleans, Metairie, Mandeville, Abita Springs, and Kenner.


After receiving her doctorate, Dr. Savoie was commissioned in the United States Air Force as a Captain on February 14, 1994. She quickly distinguished herself in various leadership roles, serving as Flight Commander for the Life Skills Flight in Del Rio, Texas, where she provided pro bono assistance to the challenged border community. She also launched the first military-civilian Critical Incident Stress Team, working with community officials and the border patrol. Eventually rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Tammy embarked on over 20 years of exemplary duty to United States’ service members and their families all over the world.
