Sow the Seeds of Change for Next Generation

Sow the Seeds of Change for Next Generation

Hello, Thank you for visiting this donation page. My name is Jiayong Chen (she/her) and I'm a 2025 Seeding Change Fellow. I joined this fellowship in hopes to build a deeper connection and knowledge in Asian American organizing movement and help make better changes to our communities. Through unifying and standing in solidarity with other oppressed communities to increase our collective power to keep our elective officials accountable and building a world where we want to live in.

For this fellowship, I'm working at Chinese Progressive Association in San Francisco in the Tenant Workers Center Department. My roles are doing Chinese immigrant worker organizing and basebuilding in district 11 of San Francisco. Through organizing workers strategically at their workplace, we demand for better working conditions, reasonable employee rights and benefits, and help get wage back when workers have encounter wage theft from bosses. We build power in Chinese immigrant working class families to voice their rights and uplift their dreams! Every movement success requires grassroots members and community involvement in power building. To build working class power, I basebuild with residents in district 11 through co-governance with district supervisor, take back decision power, and make demands that we want to see in our communities.

In addition, within our fellowship network, I have met amazing young leaderships who are ready to make changes in their own community, and together, we are strengthening this movement by giving what we hold truth in our hearts and working toward a world where collectively we can live a dignified, just life.

With your kind donation, we will be able to train and outreach to more youths who will benefit from this community grassroots organizing training program.
