Senator L. Louise Lucas has served as the representative for the 18th Senatorial District of Virginia for nearly 30 years.
Since obtaining majority she serves as the first African American and first Woman to serve as the President Pro Tempore of the Virginia State Senate in it's 400 year history. She serves as the Chair of Education and Health for the second time in her Senatorial tenure. She also serves as a member of Senate Rules, Finance and Appropriations, Judiciary, and Commerce and Labor Committee.
