A Nurse Turned Candidate by Necessity

(Spoiler Alert: You all saw 007: Road to a Million, the James Bond-themed reality show to recently debut on Amazon. Which pair of contestants made it the farthest in the show? The two nurses! That's no coincidence.)

I am not a lawyer or policy wonk. I have not been marinating in the stew of state politics. I am a nurse who has seen, and experienced for herself, the dire shortcomings of American society and have decided to do something about it.

Most people develop into politicians in a bubble. Their ambition for office leads them down an insular path. Seven out of ten of Maryland's Congressional Delegation are lawyers. This is why our major societal problems just cycle and spin and sometimes die away and then are reborn on repeat. It's just not personal to them, beyond jockeying for re-election every two years. This is where I am different.

Access to health care, the exorbitant cost of a college education, the prevalence of sexual abuse, living paycheck to paycheck with no ability to save money, families torn apart by mental health struggles, the confounding nature of addiction; these are only a handful of the challenges that are dragging us all down. I know what it's like to live day to day, shouldering all of these simultaneously while attempting to be a "productive member of society." Sound familiar?

It is tough out here, people. You and I know this. In 2024, let's send representation to Congress that arrives with a sense of urgency to work together: republican, independent, 3-headed monster. It doesn't matter. You matter. I want your life and the life your family to noticeably improve on a daily basis because this nurse is in Congress telling the unfettered truth, advocating for the people who sent her there (and for no other cause) and restoring trust and respect to the legislative body of the Greatest Country on the Face of the Earth.

Invest in you and your family and send this nurse to Washington!

Respectfully,

Mrs. Kristin Lyman Nabors, BSN, RN

Congressional Candidate for Maryland's 3rd District
