I’m Sherry Bolden-Simpson. In the last 37 years, I’ve been a teacher, a principal, and a guidance counselor in South Bend. I think we all deserve to live in a safe and caring community, so I’m running for South Bend City Council.
My parents escaped the Jim Crow South to build a middle-class life in South Bend through their faith, a union job, and a good education.
But far too many in our city feel those opportunities slipping away. No matter if you’re black, white, or brown, too many live paycheck to paycheck with a fear of violence or without healthy and affordable housing.
And right now, MAGA Republicans are trying to take away our freedoms and make us less safe.
That’s why I’m running for city council. Because when people come together across our differences, we find solutions to big problems. Together with Faith in Indiana, we just won historic investments so our loved ones in mental crisis get care, instead of being locked up.
When I’m elected, I will work to make sure everyone has a safe place to call home. I will make our city safer by investing in those most at risk of committing gun violence and continuing our historic investments in mental health.
The South Side deserves a representative who will make our city safer and more caring. South Bend needs an educator who knows how to fix problems inside and outside the classroom. Together, we can flip this seat and begin the fight to take back power from extreme MAGA Republicans.
I ask for your vote on November 7th and any financial support you can offer to fuel our campaign. Let’s do this!
