CW: Violence and brutality
A young woman was forced to flee her country in Central America after a paramilitary group shot open her home and, violently and repeatedly, pushed her face against a glass window, causing severe facial wounds — simply because she dared protest on behalf of students' and farmworkers' rights.
Two years ago, her older sister was forced to escape this pattern of state-sponsored violence, and thanks to the support of folks like you, we were able to bring her to safety and win her asylum case in the United States. But our young friend wanted to remain home, keep standing up to oppression, keep helping her community, despite numerous threats. This past week, the threats became catastrophically real.
We have helped our young friend evacuate her home country, and we need to provide safe housing and transport, in order to arrive safely as well as legally into the United States, to be reunited with her sister.
So, can you chip in right now to help get this asylum seeker? Absolutely anything you can afford would be immensely appreciated.
