In order for President Harris to enact her agenda, we need to ensure she has a partner in Congress. The best way to do that is to make history by electing Hakeem Jeffries as the first ever Black Speaker of the House of Representatives, giving Democrats a governing majority and President Harris the opportunity to continue her legacy.
- The House controls the federal budget, committee assignments, investigations, and countless other functions that keep the economy strong and the country on track. The only way to build on the success of the Biden-Harris administration is to take back the House and give Kamala a functional Congress and working majority. Otherwise MAGA Republicans and their Project 2025 loyalists will roadblock her administration at every turn.
Here are the SIX seats currently held by far-right House Republicans who won their seats by only 3 points on average, and are all currently neck and neck in polling with their Democratic challengers.
- AZ-06: Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani is an avowed Christian Nationalist who helps run a private academy focused on rewriting the Constitution. His Democratic opponent Kirsten Engel is a mom, an environmental attorney, and a former State Legislator who has fought for years to restore funding to public schools, protect Arizona's natural resources, and make her community safer. Kirsten was less than 6,000 votes shy of winning this seat in 2022.
- IA-03: Republican Rep. Zach Nunn is an anti-choice extremist who raised his hand during a debate to proudly say all abortion should be illegal. Democratic candidate Lanon Baccam is a first-generation American, born and raised in rural Iowa. Lanon enlisted in the Iowa National Guard when he was 17 before deploying to Afghanistan. After he returned, he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture supporting veterans transitioning to careers in agriculture. This race was only decided by roughly 2,000 votes in 2022.
- NE-02: Republican Rep. Don Bacon is a January 6 apologist who praised insurrectionists who attacked the police as “patriots” and “outstanding, wonderful people,” and even stated that “many of them are my friends.” His opponent Tony Vargas is the son of working-class Peruvian immigrants, and has dedicated his life to serving his community as a teacher, school board member, and state senator. Tony came within 6,000 votes of defeating Don Bacon in 2022.
- OR-05: Republican Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer is an anti-choice extremist who said she was “encouraged to see the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade.” Democratic candidate Janelle Bynum is an Oregon state legislator with a proven track record of delivering results - she is a small business owner, an engineer, and a mom of four. In previous races for the Oregon State House, Janelle beat Lori Chavez-DeRemer TWICE – and she’ll do it again in 2024.
- PA-10: Republican Rep. Scott Perry is a Neo-Nazi supporter who is under investigation by the FBI for his role in planning January 6. His opponent Janelle Stelson is an award–winning broadcast journalist who had to deliver a live newscast the day the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Janelle decided at that moment to quit her job and run for Congress. “I had to look out into the camera and tell every woman watching that her rights had been rolled back 50 years. That took a serious chunk out of my heart that day.”
- WI-03: Rep. Derrick Van Orden is a MAGA foot soldier who proudly admits he was at Trump’s January 6 rally and marched on the Capitol and has been caught verbally assaulting White House Staff, tourists, and even librarians. His opponent Rebecca Cooke was born and raised in Eau Claire, and grew up helping out on her family’s dairy farm. In this traditionally Republican district, polling shows independents are fed up with Van Ordan’s “Evil Clown Act.”
