THIS IS INCREDIBLE: All three Michigan candidates backed by our organization, The People United, won their primary elections!
These progressive champions prevailed despite:
That’s what happens when a movement powered by small-dollar donors takes on the big-money political establishment.
Now, we have to finish the job.
While Donavan McKinney is in a reliably democratic district, and is on track to head to Congress in January, two of our endorsed candidates—Abdul El-Sayed and Will Lawrence—now face tough general-election races that could determine control of Congress.
El-Sayed won the Democratic Senate primary by roughly one percentage point, despite tens of millions of dollars in outside spending from billionaire-backed super PACs—including AIPAC’s United Democracy Project and groups backed by data-center owners—trying to portray him as a radical.
Now, he faces a Republican hand-picked by Trump in a race that could determine control of the U.S. Senate.
Lawrence won a competitive three-way primary and will now face a Republican who votes with Trump almost every time. The Cook Political Report rates Michigan’s 7th Congressional District as one of just 18 House toss-ups in the country.
We must win these two races if we’re going to take back the House and Senate this fall. And, according to political analysts, there is no path to a Democratic Senate majority without winning Michigan.
We have fewer than 90 days to turn these primary victories into November wins. Will you chip in even just $1 right now to help elect Abdul El-Sayed and Will Lawrence? Please.
If you’ve been waiting for proof that grassroots politics can overcome enormous odds, this is it.
And if you’ve been waiting for a moment to support candidates with strong values who you can really believe in, who are also crucial to winning back the House and Senate for Democrats, that moment is now.
