The truly MAGA Proposals are 3 and 5, but here’s a complete rundown:

• PROP 1: MAGAs decimated this good idea by removing Human Services from the critical list, then removed any prioritization entirely with the wording: "Prioritize [county services] including but not limited to ..."
• PROP 2: This proposal is not worth the confusion of supporting it while opposing all others. It creates an emergency fund in case of natural disaster. Current councilmembers will tell you such a fund already exists.
• PROP 3: This is the KEY reason MAGAs threw tens of thousands of dollars into the Charter Review Race. This proposal removes the partisan label (R or D) from the remaining county positions that still have it - Executive, Council Member, and Prosecutor. This allows Republicans to run in these races without having to claim their party affiliation. They admitted during a recorded meeting that "obscuring party affiliation" from voters was the intention of this amendment.
• PROP 4: This is a change to require the county to create a database to show where money is being spent. This information is already available for the asking, and our tax dollars will go to waste having it created and maintained. The intention of the amendment was to make a point that the county government is hiding where they are spending money, which isn't true.
• PROP 5: This is the secondary purpose of pouring MAGA money into these campaigns. This will require 4 of the 5 county councilmembers to vote in the affirmative to raise any taxes for any purpose. This will grind our government to a halt, resulting in layoffs and program cuts. With this Republican VETO, we can count on less services for folks who are struggling and backroom deals as leverage to get past that VETO.
