MUSKEGON, Mich., — State Representative Will Snyder officially filed paperwork today with Muskegon County Clerk Karen D. Buie to run for re-election in Michigan’s 87th House District.
In announcing his candidacy, State Rep. Will Snyder (D-Muskegon) issued the following statement:
“In my first term, we delivered historic wins for Greater Muskegon, bringing record state investments for new housing developments, public education, local infrastructure projects, recreation areas, and cultural landmarks. Now, in my second term, I continue to build on those wins to make our state government work more effectively for everyone."
“Unfortunately, the past year has been tough for Michigan, and our nation. Republican leaders in Lansing and Washington D.C. have brought chaos and pain to so many people. In Washington, we've seen dangerous changes to our healthcare system, cuts to food assistance programs, and the elimination of the Department of Education. In Michigan, House Republicans have defied the constitution, attempting to slash nearly $650 million of already authorized spending and refused to present passed bills to the Governor for her consideration, deepening the pain for so many Michiganders.”
“At a time of chaos, I’m committed to being the adult in the room, unafraid to stand up to President Trump, Republicans, or even Democrats who stand in the way of progress. I am running for re-election to continue this fight with the hope that this year’s elections produce leaders who share governing principles of civility, grace, and integrity instead of divisiveness.”
State Rep. Will Snyder was first elected in 2022, and is now serving his second term representing the 87th House District and is a lifelong Muskegon resident. Rep. Snyder previously chaired the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Economic Development, and Lifelong Learning.
