Support a “New Deal Democrat” fighting for Social Security

Graham Platner is a self-described “New Deal Democrat” running to defeat Susan Collins in Maine and flip the U.S. Senate blue.

He’s running on a platform to protect and expand Social Security, saying, “one simple fix can save Social Security: lift the cap that keeps Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and the rest of the billionaires from paying their fair share.”

Meanwhile, Sen. Susan Collins refuses to take a stance on Social Security’s future. She, like her Republican colleagues, has been unwilling to act to strengthen Social Security and shore up the trust fund for future generations. That’s another way of saying she supports toxically unpopular benefit cuts, but doesn’t want to admit it.
