For the first time in history, Nebraska lawmakers voted to deny citizens their right to vote on an issue that the people already put on the ballot.
LB1402 directly appropriates public funds to pay for private schools and denies Nebraskans the right to vote on the issue. It's a slap in the face to Nebraska voters and we cannot let this stand.
This is still a democracy, and we will continue the fight to ensure voters’ wishes on this issue are heard and respected – from launching another petition effort to challenging the constitutionality of this bill.
