South Bay Justice Reformers for Chesa Boudin

Our justice system is broken. Even as voters embrace reforms aimed at dismantling mass incarceration, prosecutors cling to the status quo. In an effort to change that and join a nationwide wave of progressive prosecutors, Public Defender Chesa Boudin is running for district attorney of San Francisco.

On Wednesday, September 25th, join Chesa, Raj Jayadev, Jamal Trulove, and other justice reformers in support of this movement.

Chesa Boudin is a deputy public defender in San Francisco. In addition to representing clients, he helped develop policies to protect incarcerated immigrants from deportation and participated in the successful legal challenges to cash bail in California. He believes public safety means more than punishment -- it means health care, mental health treatment, housing, education, and restorative justice.

Raj Jayadev is a community organizer and MacArthur Fellow who co-founded De-Bug, a grassroots organization that helps individuals, families, and communities facing incarceration take an active role in the defense of themselves or a loved one. Jayadev also advocates for criminal justice reform, including bail reform, sentencing reform, and police accountability.

Jamal Trulove is an actor and justice reform advocate imprisoned for more than six years before a federal jury found he'd been framed by police. He recently co-starred in the Sundance hit, "The Last Black Man in San Francisco."

Jennifer Redding is a public defender and advocate for justice reform. She is also an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University School of Law.
