Social Security Works

Make Sure Every Voter Knows Who's Behind the Trumpocalypse

When Republicans tried to use the Great Recession as an excuse to destroy Social Security and Medicare, we beat them back. When Trump tried to destroy Medicare and Medicaid during his first term, he failed, then when he tried to use the pandemic as a pretext to defund Social Security, we stopped that too.

But thanks to almost every Republican in Congress, $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts will happen, and Trump’s gigantic tax cuts for the wealthy will trigger $500 billion in automatic Medicare cuts.

We will fight to reverse these cuts―but we need to make sure that the Republicans who voted for this abomination become famous.

Rep. David Valadao from California comes from a district where 64% of residents are on Medicaid. He voted for this bill.

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks from Iowa won her election by less than a thousand votes―and she voted to throw 21,554 of her constituents off their health insurance.

Rep. Juan Ciscomani from Arizona won his last election by around one-tenth the number of votes compared to the number of people in his district at risk of losing Medicaid when Trump’s cuts take effect..

Together, they could have stopped this. But because they put Trump ahead of their voters, they gave it a green light.

Social Security Works is making sure their constituents know exactly who is responsible for every closed hospital and nursing home, for every person who dies because they can’t afford health care. Can you chip in for our accountability campaign?
