Social Security Works

Two months into Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s collaboration to destroy the government, it looks like they’re preparing to break Social Security’s promise.

Elon Musk is planning to swap out all of the software that makes our Social Security system run, and roll it out without adequate testing. When your Social Security check doesn’t show up, this will be why.

An SSA technologist warned:

“One of the big risks is not underpayment or overpayment per se but [it’s also] not paying someone at all and not knowing about it. The invisible errors and omissions.”

Already, MAGA billionaires like Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are trying to soften the blow when Social Security checks stop going out. Lutnick said “Let's say Social Security didn't send out their checks this month, my mother-in-law—who's 94—she wouldn't call and complain. She just wouldn't. She'd just think something got messed up.”

More and more, it looks like Musk’s approach is to create maximum carnage at the Social Security Administration, so that the mess he created is almost impossible to put back together. We can’t afford to wait until Musk and Trump are out of power. We have to fight NOW.
