I first became aware of Sara Gelser in 1999 when I saw her in action at a town hall meeting at the Corvallis public library. Sara not only advocated for her special needs son, but she organized a whole room full of parents standing with their kids to do the same. The incumbent legislators, Cliff Trow and Barbara Ross (both strong supporters of Sara) both took note.
Fortunately, Sara didn't stop at being a citizen activist, but went on to serve with distinction on the Corvallis School Board and as an Oregon State Representative. Now she is in a competitive race to represent Linn and Benton Counties in the Oregon State Senate.
Her opponent , Betsy Close, is a Tea Party Republican. I see that Wal Mart gave Close $2,000. I wish I could give that much, but hope to raise it. Will you please give $20 or more to Sara?
