Stacey Plaskett is in her 5th term in Congress and was appointed by Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries as Ranking Member of the House Select Subcommittee on Weaponization of the Federal Government and the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on National Intelligence Enterprise on the Intelligence Committee for the 118th Congress. Stacey is the first member of a territory to be named a Ranking Member of a Select Committee and the first to be a member of the Select Permanent Intelligence Committee.
In 2021, Stacey was appointed by the former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to be one of the nine impeachment managers to prosecute President Trump in the U.S. Senate. At the time of the Senate trial, Stacey was the only Black woman in the Senate Chamber.
Previously, Stacey served on the House Committee on Ways and Means, the oldest and one of the most exclusive committees in Congress and was the first Member from a U.S. territory and only the fourth African-American woman to serve on this committee. She has also served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, as well as the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.
Throughout her time in Congress, her colleagues have consistently recognized her excellent leadership skills and her fierce dedication to the people of the Virgin Islands and the nation.
