The record turnout of Black, Brown, Asian, Native American and Young voters in the 2020 elections and
the 2021 Georgia U.S. Senate Run Off has sparked a massive national backlash by state legislators
introducing and passing racist laws to suppress their participation in elections.
On May 8, 2021, a “John Lewis National Day of Action” will ignite public support for restoring the
effectiveness of the Voting Rights Act through S1, the For the People Act, HR1, and HR4. We will also
address one of the greatest obstacles to the passage of civil and voting rights - and one of the last vestiges of slavery - the filibuster!
