Today, Jazmine Early, one of my opponents for City Council posted on Facebook that she'd actively support discrimination toward the LGBTQ community. This bigotry is unacceptable and has no place in Sterling Heights.
Sadly, this continues a pattern by Ms. Early, who has a long history of bigotry, homophobia, and Islamophobia. In the past she even accepted the endorsement of Secure Michigan, an organization listed as an anti-Muslim hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
It's clear to me that Jazmine Early is hoping to use bigotry and hatred to affect our City Council Elections in Sterling Heights.
This is unacceptable. And after the tragedy that unfolded in Charlottesville, we need to be vigilant about calling out hatred in our community. Bigotry has no place in Sterling Heights.
I won't stand for it. As my platform states, Sterling Heights is a city welcoming to all people. Our city’s openness to all residents, coupled with our low taxes and excellent services make Sterling Heights a destination for young families and new citizens alike.
That's why I'm running, to ensure Sterling Heights truly is a City for Everyone. We can't let reactionary politicians change that.
