For the past 6 months I’ve been organizing with Sunrise, a movement of young people working to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. We're building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people. For example, just this past November, over 1000 young people gathered in 25 cities and towns to dedicate Climate Legacy Time Capsules and commit to fighting for a better future as the the first UN climate talks of the Trump era came to a close. We wrote our own climate legacy and let our politicians know that if they continue to drag us backwards, we will be the generation to step up and lead our country forward. Now, we’re gearing up for 2018, where we’ll work on elections across the country to kick out politicians in the pocket of fossil fuel CEOs, and elect leaders who will fight for all of us and our shared home.

I will be working with Sunrise from June through November 2018 as part of the Sunrise Semester program to work intensively on the elections. Sunrise volunteers will be living in movement housing together and there will also be a student debt relief fund for those who would like to work for Sunrise full time but need assistance paying off their loans. To make Sunrise Semester possible and accessible for all, we’re hoping to raise $25,000 to support our work before the end of the year, and personally I’m hoping to raise $500.
