Dear Friends & Family,
At the beginning of 2017, as Donald Trump was sworn in as President, I remember feeling scared, angry, disheartened and overwhelmed. My most deeply held values of equity & social justice were under attack and everything I’d been fighting so hard for in terms of winning a safe and stable climate was on the brink of slipping away.
I knew this was a historic moment, and I remember feeling more determined than ever to apply my passion, knowledge and skills as an organizer to make the biggest impact I could.
That’s why I was thrilled when I found Sunrise Movement, an organization whose vision, values and strategy seemed as big, bold and innovative as this moment truly called for.
They had a brilliant plan to resist Trump, elect new leaders who would stand up for the health and wellbeing of ALL people, and move us toward a just climate future. I had to be part of it. So I dropped everything, switched up my life, and for the last 6 months have been serving as a full-time volunteer organizer with Sunrise.
This team is truly amazing -- full of creative, intelligent, driven youth leaders giving their all to build a youth climate movement powerful enough to reshape American politics as we know it.
Working on this team has given me so much hope and inspiration, and as we approach the new year, I wanted to reach out to you - my friends, family and community - to ask for your support in helping the Sunrise Team make 2018 the year we turned the tide!
