Give to Sunrise Twin Cities

Give to Sunrise Twin Cities

Do you feel hopeless about our planet’s future? 🌍

In 2050, scientists project that Minneapolis's summer temperature average will be 10°F higher 🔥, and the risk of destructive weather events will be much greater📈. Despite increasingly dire projections, our politicians continue to ignore science and place profits over people.

🌅We’re building a movement to change that.🌅

Sunrise is a grassroots, youth-led movement fighting to stop climate change. We’re pushing politicians to avoid fossil fuel money 💰and tackle climate issues, and the DNC to hold a climate-specific debate for candidates. We’re supporting policy proposals like the Green New Deal, which will clean up our energy economy and give stable jobs to folks across the country. And we’re organizing a coalition of Americans from all walks of life--working class, young and old, different cultures and backgrounds--to make climate into the 🚨urgent priority🚨it needs to be.

We’ve already gotten 8 of the remaining Democratic candidates to back the Green New Deal (our original goal was only 5) and 18 to sign the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge 🎉. Our movement has also been covered by PBS and the New York Times.

With all of this momentum inside the movement, we’re working to make our leaders and the communities around us feel the urgency of the climate crisis! To do this, Sunrise members have participated in over a dozen actions since last April. One of those actions was the September Climate Strike in Saint Paul, which, with the help of Sunrise organizers, brought more than 2,000 people together to demand climate action.

Sunrise’s Twin Cities Hub has big plans and we need your help to get there. We're looking to raise at least $1000 a month so we can:

  • Train as many young people as possible who are looking to take on a more active leadership in climate organizing
  • Prioritize justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in our organizing
  • Host meetings for the larger Twin Cities hub and for the smaller teams within our hub
  • Create art for protests and rallies
  • Ensure safety at rallies
  • Create outreach materials for presentations we do in the metro area

With your help, we could do even more. If you could chip in even a small amount, it would allow our organization to continue to make stopping climate change the top priority in our nation.
