My name is Sarah Lentz, and I’m running for School Board At-Large in Portland, Maine. I've entered this race because I'm passionate about working towards equitable and inclusive schools for all of our students and staff. Part of this work means listening to and amplifying the needs of our Black, Brown, LGBTQIA, Disabled, and ELL students, their families, and staff. 

Your donation will help support my campaign in the following ways:

$5: Pays for 42 "Thank You" postcards. 

Whenever someone donates money, contributes labor, or shares time for a conversation about the future of our school district, I want to thank them. These postcards will help me convey my gratitude for all the people helping to make this campaign happen. 

$25: Pays for 166 of the informational flyers I’ll be giving to voters. 

I’ll be going door to door to meet as many of the 68,000 Portland residents as I can before June 14th. At each interaction, I’ll leave them with a flyer about me and why equity is important to our city. 

$50: Buys 14 lawn signs to build visibility across the city.

As a first-time candidate in Portland, I need more people to know who I am, what I believe in, and how I plan to support the BIPOC, LGBTQIA, Disabled, and ELL students, staff, and families in our district. 

$100: Lets me hire a local immigrant to translate my website content into another language. 

With over 60 languages in the Portland Public Schools, it’s important for materials to be relevant and accessible. I am hoping to translate my website into Spanish, Portuguese, French, Somali, and Arabic.

$300: Buys window signs for Portland folks without yards.

Many people in Portland don’t own their house and/or have restrictions on what they can put in their yards. These signs will offer them the chance to support my campaign and equity in our schools. 

$500: Provides compensation to the women, queer folks, and BIPOC I’m asking to work on my campaign. 

Campaigns demand so much work from so many people. In local politics, the standard is to ask people to do that work for free. Women, people of color, and LGBTQIA folks are already chronically underpaid, and I don’t want to perpetuate that dynamic within my campaign.
