Priority Slate: Elect Florida's First Transgender State Legislator

Whats's at Stake?

Florida has never elected a transgender person to any office. In 2024, we have our best chance yet to shatter that glass ceiling. Two highly accomplished transgender leaders are running for the Florida House in swing districts. Given DeSants' obsession with cruel attacks on transgender Floridians, these races could make national headlines and send a powerful message that Florida is sick and tired of the governor's culture war.

Nathan Bruemmer

Florida House District 61 (Pinellas County)

Nathan Bruemmer, is a lawyer, consumer advocate, small business owner, and a highly experienced LGBTQ leader who recently served as president of the state LGBTQ Democratic Caucus. Nathan is running in HD 61, which includes the LGBTQ-affirming town of Gulfport and many of the St. Pete beach communities. This district previously elected Florida's first lesbian lawmaker and is considered the best chance for a Democratic pickup in Pinellas County this year.

Ashley Brundage

Florida House District 65 (Hillsborough County)

Ashley Brundage is an award-winning author and former financial services executive at a major national bank. She is a nationally recognized leader and speaker who has worked with some of the world's largest employers on diversity and inclusion. HD 65 includes the South Tampa community and some of Tampa’s largest LGBTQ neighborhoods and is considered the Democrats' best pickup opportunity in Tampa this year.
