It's hard to believe, but the Obsidian Theatre Festival officially launched over four years ago in October of 2020. Back then OTF was just an idea; the expression of a shared dream and an answer to a collective question: "How do we use our art to erase bias and create equity?"
In just the last four years we have produced 28 individual productions (plays, musicals, cabarets), featured 33 writers and composers, and hired 200+ artists. And, with a focus on accessibility, our work has been streamed across the world with over 500,000 views.
Because of the festival's success we have also been able to launch exciting new community programming including our Inaugural Detroit IMPACT Arts Conference and the Young Artists Workshop.
In just seven months we will celebrate our 5th Annual Season. And it wouldn't be possible without the support of our community. Amazing philanthropic partners have helped us grow (The Community Foundation of SE Michigan, The Mellon Foundation, The Gilbert Family Foundation, The Erb Foundation, The Skillman Foundation, The Song Foundation).
And we need you to join us in this effort. We know your support is valuable, and here's how it makes a difference.
If everyone who receives this message gave just...
We cannot do this without you. Our artists, our youth, our community deserve to be centered and seen. Please join us as we move into this 5th season and grow for seasons to come.
