States Win for Allison Hougland (KS HD 15)

Allison Hougland is a real estate agent, mother, grandmother, and lifelong Olathe resident running to reclaim Kansas House District 15, where she previously served in the 2023–2024 sessions. A small business owner who became a single mother at 25, Allison has lived through the challenges of childcare, rising costs, and an inflexible workforce, and she carries those lessons into everything she does. Over the past decade, she has built her career helping families make one of the biggest investments of their lives, and she knows firsthand how rising housing prices, rental costs, and mortgage rates are making the dream of homeownership harder to reach.

During her term in office, Allison fought to lower the cost of living from housing to health care to utility bills, stood up for working families, and defended public education. She lost her seat in 2024 by just 106 votes, coming within 1.4 points of holding the district. She is running again because families in her community are struggling with the rising cost of groceries, childcare, rent, and health care, and she believes they deserve a representative who listens, understands the community, and fights for their future.

WHY THIS RACE

Kansas House District 15 is a seat Allison has won before, and can win again. She flipped the district in 2022, and lost it in 2024 by just 106 votes. With an open gubernatorial race at the top of the ticket, Democrats need to break the Republican supermajority in the Kansas House to give a Democratic governor a veto that actually means something; HD-15 is one of the clearest paths to making that happen. Allison has already proven this district is winnable, but she needs our help to prove it again.

WHY KANSAS IS IMPORTANT

Kansas is a surprising but important electoral battleground in 2026, with an open gubernatorial race that could reshape the state’s political future. Democrats currently control the governor's mansion and may hold onto it, but executive power alone is not enough. Republicans hold a supermajority in the Kansas House, giving them the ability to override the governor’s vetoes. Breaking that supermajority is essential to giving a Democratic governor real governing power. Flipping key House seats and defending vulnerable incumbents is the only path to making Democratic executive leadership mean something in Topeka.
