WHY THIS RACE
Michigan House District 31 is a critical open-seat race that Democrats must hold to regain control in the Michigan House. With the incumbent Democrat retiring, Republicans will view this district as a key pickup opportunity in their effort to maintain control of the chamber and roll back progress on issues like public education, workers' rights, and lowering costs for families. Shannon Dare Wayne's deep roots in the community, experience as a local elected official, and working-class background make her a strong candidate to keep this seat blue and ensure Democrats can continue delivering results for Michigan families.
