States Win for Elaine Marzola (NV AD 21)

Assemblymember Elaine Marzola was inspired to run for political office by her early experiences learning what it means to start with limited resources. She worked relentlessly toward a better future, holding onto an unshakable belief in opportunity. She is an attorney, single mom, and immigrant who has represented District 21 in the Nevada State Assembly since the 2020 election. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she immigrated with her parents to Las Vegas in 1984 and is the first Brazilian immigrant in U.S. history to hold the Speaker Pro Tempore title.

Throughout her life, Elaine has been committed to helping others. While in college, she volunteered and later worked for a domestic violence shelter. As a judicial law clerk, she saw first-hand how people need a strong advocate to get the justice they deserve. Since being elected to the State Assembly, Elaine has been a dedicated public servant, sponsoring legislation to increase health care access, providing paid leave for workers, and getting much-needed pay raises for teachers.

WHY THIS RACE

Reelecting Elaine Marzola is critical to maintaining Democratic control of the Nevada State Assembly, where competitive districts like this one can determine the balance of power. Assembly District 21 has become increasingly tight, with recent elections decided by narrow margins—including a 2024 presidential result within just over one point—highlighting how easily this seat could flip. As a proven legislator with a record of delivering on health care, education, and economic issues, Elaine’s reelection would ensure continued progress on policies that directly impact Nevada families. In a state where control of government is closely contested, holding seats like this is essential to protecting Democratic priorities and preventing a rollback of hard-fought gains.

WHY NEVADA

Nevada is a critical battleground in 2026, where holding Democratic majorities in the legislature is essential to pushing back against Republican Governor Joe Lombardo’s agenda. In a state defined by narrow margins and a rapidly evolving electorate, even a few seats could determine whether Democrats maintain the power to block harmful proposals and continue advancing policies that support working families. Protecting the majority in Nevada isn’t just about defense, it’s about ensuring balance in state government and safeguarding hard-fought gains at a moment when they are most at risk.
