States Win for Rose Lounsbury (OH HD 36)

Rose Lounsbury is a former public school teacher, small business owner, and suburban mom of three running for the Ohio House of Representatives in District 36. The daughter of two retired teachers and the great-granddaughter of a coal miner who immigrated to southeast Ohio in the early 1900s, Rose carries that legacy into everything she does. She put down roots in Dayton twenty years ago, where her teenage triplets attend public school, and during the pandemic joined the League of Women Voters, where her commitment to voting rights and fair elections became the foundation of her political journey.


Rose previously ran for House District 36 in 2024 and is running again because the issues that motivated her then have only grown more urgent. As a working mom who understands firsthand that, for many families, there is never enough time and resources are often insufficient, so she is committed to fighting for strong public schools, fair elections, and an Ohio where hardworking people can afford to live. She believes that vision is not only possible, but within reach, and she is ready to bring that fight to Columbus on behalf of the families and communities of District 36.


WHY THIS RACE

Rose Lounsbury ran previously in Ohio House District 36, and she’s back with unfinished business. A former public school teacher, small business owner, and Dayton mom of three, Rose knows this district and has the community roots to compete for it. Democrats need six seats to break the Republican supermajority, and the path to do so runs through Rose.


WHY OHIO IS IMPORTANT

In 2026, Ohio has a real possibility of putting a Democrat in the governor’s mansion with an open gubernatorial race. But a Democratic governor means nothing as long as Republicans hold their supermajority in the Ohio House, giving them unchecked power to override any governor’s veto. By flipping just six seats, Democrats could break the Republican supermajority in the House and enable a Democratic governor to successfully block extreme legislation on reproductive rights, public education, and economic fairness.
