Chris Thomas comes from a family of veterans, coal miners, educators, and corrections officers who believe in the dignity of hard work and the importance of showing up for their communities. Chris’ working-class roots shape his commitment to fairness, opportunity, and standing up for families who work hard but still struggle to get ahead. He began his career in construction before becoming a middle school math and science teacher, where he saw firsthand how underfunded schools and broken systems affect both students and educators.
After leaving the classroom, Chris moved into community organizing – helping build grassroots engagement across Montgomery and Berks counties and working to bring people together around issues affecting their communities. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter, believing leadership means stepping up when neighbors need help most. Chris lives in Perkiomenville with his wife, Lydia, and remains deeply connected to the communities he hopes to represent.
Chris is running for Pennsylvania State Senate in District 24 to fight for working families and tackle the rising cost of living. He is focused on fully funding public schools, lowering everyday costs, and making healthcare more accessible and affordable so that families do not have to choose between essentials like rent, groceries, and medical care. In Harrisburg, Chris aims to bring the same dedication to service and belief in community that has guided his life and career.
WHY THIS RACE
Republicans currently control the Pennsylvania State Senate, and flipping Senate District 24 is critical to breaking that hold on power and advancing policies that support working families. The district has become increasingly competitive in recent election cycles, reflecting broader shifts across southeastern Pennsylvania as suburban and small-town voters grow frustrated with partisan gridlock and rising costs of living. Electing Chris would give Democrats a stronger voice in Harrisburg to fight for fully funded public schools, more affordable healthcare, and policies that lower everyday costs for families. With its mix of working-class communities and growing suburban areas in Montgomery and Berks counties, Senate District 24 represents a key opportunity for Democrats to expand their coalition and build momentum toward a more balanced and responsive state government.
WHY PENNSYLVANIA
A perennial presidential battleground, Pennsylvania is also highly competitive at the state level as one of only three states in the country with a divided legislature. The stakes are particularly high in 2026, with Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro on the ballot. With several recent special elections highlighting how closely contested control of the state has been, Pennsylvania remains a central focus for efforts to shape the state’s political balance and policy direction in the years ahead.
