Gun violence touches all of us. Two of my friends died by gunshot, one of them from his own hand. South Carolina has one of the highest rates of homicide by gunshot in the nation.
I have been committed to ending gun violence, including unintentional shootings and suicide by gun, as a volunteer for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America since 2013.
This June 2nd I’ll be wearing orange to recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day and to honor victims of gun violence. I am helping organize a public event in Columbia June 3rd: on a walk in a City park, with music, activities for kids, and hot dogs. Anything you can contribute makes a difference! The money raised will also support the work that I and thousands of others do for Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety. Ninety-three Americans are killed each day by gun violence. Will you honor each of them with action by making a donation today? Whether $9, $3, or $93, your generous contribution will support groundbreaking original research into the causes of gun violence and the means to reduce it through evidence-based policies and practices. It will also help me and other volunteers communicate this knowledge far and wide as we work together to change our culture by ending gun violence. Thank you!
