Taja's Coalition, a newly-minted 501c3, was founded in response to the murder of Taja Gabrielle de Jesus, a transgender woman of color and resident of San Francisco. Our mission is to promote the safety of trans women and gender non conforming people, which we aim to achieve by promoting legal clinics for name and gender marker changes, subsidizing housing, and running financial literacy workshops, among many other programs. Our vision for the world is for us to be free of the prison industrial complex and state violence, to have an economy centered on the needs of people, and to have arrangements of power and space that center interdependence.
