Texas Democratic Women of the South Plains invite all TDW members to the annual TDW Summer Retreat in Lubbock, TX on Saturday, July 27 at the Overton Hotel. Our theme is “Women Empowering Women.” Registration is $65 and includes all materials, breakfast, coffee and lunch on Saturday.
The Overton has reserved a block of rooms for Retreat attendees, available both Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27. Rooms are $129 for either a standard 2 Queen or standard 1 King room plus 13% tax for an estimated total of $145.77. Directly across the street from the Overton is also the Hyatt Place. Rooms are not blocked there, but their reservation link is included for everyone’s information.
Retreat check in will start on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Overton. Happy hour is from 4 – 7:00 p.m. and everyone is invited to hang out with other TDW members on the hotel patio for live music Friday evening.
Retreat check in will continue at 7:45 a.m. outside the Overton’s upstairs Horizon Ballroom Saturday morning, with breakfast from 8 – 9 am. a.m. TDP Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa will help kick off the event with remarks at 9 a.m.; Jacob Jones Martinez will lead an extended SWOT analysis workshop to help us better understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats we face as an organization. Dr. Amy Koerber will address issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as they are experienced in women's organizations like TDW. The event will conclude with a luncheon and keynote address (speaker TBA) from noon - 1:00 p.m.
After-lunch activities will include informal expeditions to nearby attractions, including local wineries, the Texas Tech Public Art collection and Lubbock Lake National Historic Landmark.
The TDW state Board will meet immediately following the Retreat in Horizon Ballroom A.
