Trans Empowerment Project

Trans Empowerment Project National Fund

Trans Empowerment Project is a resource provider for the Trans & Non-binary community across the country.

Our projects include:

InTRANSition- an umbrella program to help find safe and accessible emergency resources for the Trans/Non-Binary community. This program is currently seeing an average of 20-25 applications for assistance monthly.

Trans Mentorship- assisted by a partnership with Stand w/Trans & Allied Mom's, we provide a team of support for every young adult who comes into our inTRANSition program.

Trans Job Connect- which has attracted over 700 underemployed yet qualified candidates nationwide over the last 6 months.

Many of these candidates have reported being denied positions because of their gender expression.

Our two newest projects:

Project Name Change - Launched in Sept. 2018, and in partnership with Trans and Shirtless as well as the Trans Lifeline Microgrants program, we are providing assistance nationwide, for individuals seeking to get their names and gender markers changed.

Inmate Advocacy Project- (Launched 9/1/18) Advocacy for the proper care of incarcerated trans individuals while providing resources to these individuals and their partners.

We have so far had 2 clients come to us for help. Both of which were sexually assaulted in their institutions. One is out of lock up, while the other remains and is having their basic to advance needs ignored. This person is being denied basic needs such as a blanket or proper medical care for an ear infection as well as several known mental health conditions.

They have already attempted suicide once, only to be told they were "making up their anxiety" to have vacation from the jail.
