Texas RioGrande Legal Aid is the 2nd largest legal aid organization in the country.
We provide free civil legal services to residents in 68 Southwest Texas counties and represent migrant and seasonal farmworkers throughout the state and in six other southern states. We've created a range of special programs that serve specific client populations such as Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault (LASSA) and the Texas Foster Youth Project.
We have 45+ practice areas that your donation supports, but here are some of our focus areas in 2023:
- Tenants' rights and preventing evictions: listen to this podcast to hear about our efforts to keep families in their homes in San Antonio (our attorneys are featured in the second half)
- Environmental justice and racism: learn more about our fight the environmental degradation taking place in low-income and POC communities
- Immigration and Operation Lone Star: watch this episode of Emmy-winning Showtime documentary VICE to hear former TRLA attorney Rachel Garza discuss our work in freeing migrants detained in Operation Lone Star
Individual donations are critical to giving us the flexibility we need to address issues and expenses in a constantly-changing environment of laws, community needs, and crises.
We hope that you'll consider donating today and joining the fight for justice!
