My priorities in the VA Budget

I’m happy to say that in this year's budget we were able to pass funding for many initiatives that have been part of my agenda since the beginning, including:

  1. Healthcare access:  $93M for Medicaid, and nearly $10M to help with our critical healthcare worker shortage.
  2. Mental health: $156M for mental health services.
  3. Education: Boosted K-12 spending by $650M, including a raise for workers and teachers.
  4. Safety and security: Nearly $40M for safety and security programs, including Safer Communities and Firearm Violence Prevention.

While I am delighted that we got bipartisan consensus on this budget - proving that we can work together - I also need to remind you that my opponent for the Senate has a track record of voting AGAINST many of the initiatives that were supported, including measures that would reduce gun violence and would support healthcare workers.

If you believe that a Senator should support constituents, please chip in to help us put more staff in the field to turn out the vote - every dollar you give helps put victory in our reach.
