The History of "This I Believe"
The concept was developed in the 1950s by legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow. During the height of the McCarthy era, Murrow sought a way to connect people through their shared values. He invited everyday citizens to share 5-minute oral essays on his radio show. The movement was later revived by NPR in 2009 and continues to inspire hope today.
We will recreate a 1950's coffee house atmosphere and Tom Kies will be our MC for that evening. Enjoy a relaxing and uplifting evening. Be in the community of open-minded people and listen to their personal stories that can bring light into these difficult times. When purchasing a ticket please indicate if you are interested in submitting a story.
