Washington state just became the 10th state to ban the sale of assault weapons, joining California, New York, and New Jersey. These states have exhibited moral courage, acknowledging that their foremost responsibility is the safety and well-being of their citizens.
These states serve as a beacon, illuminating the path toward a safer, more secure America.
However, this is not enough. With Congress doing nothing in the face of rampant gun violence, we need more state legislatures to break free from the chains of partisan politics and vested interests, to recognize that our right to live without the threat of violence trumps any distorted interpretation of the Second Amendment.
We need more states to follow the leadership demonstrated by those 10, extending this life-saving legislation across the nation.
