Millions of people - disproportionately people of color - may lose Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage because states will resume excessive eligibility determinations for 90 million beneficiaries.
In addition, Republican extremists are shamelessly attempting to use the debt ceiling as a bargaining chip to push for cuts to social programs.
This reckless disregard for the health and well-being of millions of Americans who rely on these programs must be fought tooth and nail.
Congress must clearly oppose any reductions in funding for Medicaid and CHIP, and instead take necessary measures to safeguard and strengthen these critical programs that provide life-saving healthcare to millions of people.
