Fund the Fight to increase voter turnout by adding secure drop boxes to more than 5,000 movie theaters now >>

A proposal has emerged that could transform the landscape of voting in the United States: the introduction of secure ballot drop boxes at movie theaters.

The concept is simple yet effective. It seeks to harness the popularity, convenience, and wide reach of movie theaters to increase voter turnout. Already, we have witnessed the effectiveness of placing ballot drop boxes in accessible public spaces such as libraries and grocery stores. The integration of these boxes into our daily lives has made the process of voting less daunting and more approachable. It is time to take this initiative a step further by including our entertainment spaces.

Movie theaters offer several advantages for this cause. They are popular venues that attract a diverse array of people, extending from young adults to senior citizens. Their extended operating hours can accommodate those who have hectic schedules, making voting a more convenient process and their central locations in cities and towns make them easily accessible for a vast majority of the population.

By placing secure ballot drop boxes in these spaces, we could effectively turn a regular night at the movies into an opportunity for civic participation.
