This year alone, over 400 bills targeting the LGBTQ+ community have been put forward, exceeding the total number introduced in the entirety of last year. This alarming surge in discriminatory legislation demands an immediate response from our elected representatives.
Perhaps the most despicable aspect of this onslaught is the deliberate targeting of transgender youth. By singling out vulnerable young individuals and denying them the right to fully express themselves, these measures perpetuate harmful stereotypes and foster an environment of intolerance and discrimination.
The absence of federal laws explicitly safeguarding LGBTQ+ individuals from discrimination is unacceptable. The time for half-measures and empty promises is over.
