The ability to access safe and effective reproductive healthcare is a fundamental right.
Yet once again right-wing extremists have successfully worked to strip our rights after a Trump-appointed District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk in Texas suspended the FDA's approval of the medication abortion drug, mifepristone, and instantly banned it nationwide -- even in states like California or Kansas where reproductive rights were recently affirmed by voters.
Mifepristone has been used safely and effectively for over 20 years to provide people with an effective non-invasive method of terminating an unwanted pregnancy. Yet, for the first time in history, this ruling reverses the FDA's authority on drug regulation.
In the face of this threat, it is imperative that the FDA uses all of its power and authority to immediately restore access to mifepristone for those in need.
