Going into the midterm elections, the deck looks stacked against us. Republicans are redrawing congressional districts to protect Republican incumbents and pit progressive Democrats against each other in the same district. State legislatures have passed dozens of laws designed to suppress the vote and, historically, the first midterm elections of a new President the opposite party gains seats.
But I have good news: Even though it doesn’t look good on paper, we can defy gravity and still hold the U.S. House and Senate if we work together.
That’s the double edged sword of Republicans running truly crazy, dangerous candidates. These fringe candidates mobilize their extreme base, but it keeps moderate republicans at home. It also motivates us. Our voters see the risks, and turn out to vote in record numbers. That’s what we did in 2020. That’s what we’ll make happen in 2022. But we can’t do it without you.
