Fund the Fight to stop cuts to Social Security benefits and increases in the retirement age Now >>

There are alarming proposals coming out of the Republican House that threaten to dismantle Social Security and undermine the welfare of our elderly citizens.

They are looking to do everything from raising the retirement age to introducing "private savings accounts,” both of which would result in dire consequences for our senior citizens. These proposals put the financial security and well-being of our elderly population at risk, creating a future where retirement becomes a distant dream instead of a well-deserved reality.

Social Security is a testament to our society's commitment to caring for our elders. It was established as a solemn promise to provide financial stability and peace of mind after a lifetime of work and we must keep it that way.

Any cuts to Social Security benefits would jeopardize the well-being of millions who rely on this program as their primary source of income during retirement. Senior citizens deserve better than being subjected to financial uncertainty or forced to work longer years -- they have already contributed their fair share to society.
