It's a decision that is literally placing more deadly weapons on the streets, escalating everyday disagreements into potentially lethal encounters, and endangering the safety and well-being of communities nationwide.
Research has repeatedly shown that when public carry laws are weakened, violence escalates. States that have implemented permitless carry policies have seen a disturbing 13-15% increase in violent crime rates and an 11% increase in homicides committed with handguns.
Every time we walk down the street, visit the mall, or attend a public event, we are now at a greater risk because of these policies. Permitless carry isn't just an abstract debate about constitutional rights -- it's a matter of life and death.
