The Grand Canyon is a unique American treasure. However, this area continues to be under direct threat from multinational mining conglomerates who are pushing for a resumption of uranium mining on lands just outside Grand Canyon National Park.
Since the 1950s, the Grand Canyon area and surrounding Colorado Plateau have been home to at least 22 uranium mills and the majority of all uranium mining activities conducted in the United States.
Fortunately, President Biden has the authority under the Antiquities Act to unilaterally shut down this threat by establishing a new national monument -- but he won’t act without pressure.
