Fund the Fight demanding President Biden take executive action against these harmful and discriminatory practices and ban government contracts with pharmacies that won’t carry mifepristone now >>

Walgreens will stop distributing Mifepristone, a drug commonly used in medication abortions, in as many as 21 states. The original announcement included three states -- Alaska, Montana, and Kansas -- where abortion is still legal.

This decision is not only unacceptable, it is downright dangerous.

Mifepristone is a safe and effective treatment for terminating a pregnancy that requires no surgery. It’s a critical lifeline for those in need of urgent medical care, especially in marginalized neighborhoods, including people of color, people with low incomes and people in rural communities.

So many people nationwide already face significant barriers to accessing healthcare. Denying access to safe and legal medicated abortion will only exacerbate disparities and worsen health outcomes for those most in need.

The denial of access to mifepristone by pharmacies is not only a violation of reproductive rights, it’s also a direct threat to the health and well-being of millions of Americans nationwide.

Fortunately, President Biden can help restore access with the stroke of a pen.
