Win A Barenaked Ladies Gold Record

Goal thermometer

This contest is now over, although you can contribute to Tim's campaign here if you'd like to. One of the most difficult-- and thankless-- tasks in electoral politics is primarying an entrenched politician from your own party. But in a gerrymandered world, it is the only way to hold corrupt politician accountable. Last year progressive reformer Tim Canova came very close to replacing Debbie Wasserman Schultz in a Broward/Miami-Dade district in South Florida. The "irregularities" in the vote count are still working their way through the courts but Tim is giving it another try-- and Blue America is proud to support him again.

This week we are giving Tim's supporters an opportunity to enter a contest in which we will randomly chose one winner for an RIAA-certified gold record for the Barenaked Ladies first album, GORDON. This isn't something you can buy in a store. It was awarded to Howie Klein of Blue America-- and formally president of Reprise Records, the Barenaked Ladies' record label, and he donated it to Blue America to use to help Tim raise funds for his campaign.

The short version of the rules are simple: send any contribution between a dollar and $2,700 and you will be eligible to win the plaque. The contest ends on Sunday, February 10 at midnight. The long, FEC-madated version of the rules are horrifying but if you're a masochist with no life you can read them here

I would say that the plaque is suitable for framing and displaying but it's already framed, has never been taken out of the plastic wrap and is definitely suitable for displaying... or for giving to a friend who loves the Barenaked Ladies as a present-- or to anyone you know from Canada.
